Coming To Grain
My brother Bill is a horse trainer and for a time was involve in breeding Pryor Mountain Mustangs and preserving their unique genetic identity. These mustangs were at my brother's property in Missouri and coming to grain when I captured this reference photo. Yes, I know Pryor Mountain mustangs live along the Wyoming/Montana border, but I wanted a quiet intimacy in this scene - a small herd of horses, at ease, moving together through a golden field, their coats catching the warm summer light against a serene backdrop of rolling green hills.
